Recognition of grape diseases using computer vision is one of the topics discussed at the IT Crimea Technopark
CrimeaPRESS reports:
An event was held at the IT Crimea Technopark that combined advanced IT technologies and classic winemaking. Crimean wines are distinguished by high quality and a unique combination of flavors due to the peculiarities of the climate and soil of the peninsula. During the event, experts shared their experience of using IT achievements and introducing automation of production processes in the process of creating wine.
Sergey Shcherbakov, head of the AI/ML department of CrimeaDigital Group, spoke about the use of the Computer Vision system for recognizing vineyard diseases. Using computer vision, you can assess the degree of fruit ripening, quantity, presence of pests, recognize diseases in the early stages, and more. The information processing system analyzes the data and creates recommendations, schedules and forecasts for the future.
Alexander Volkhover, technical director of the Ceres project, spoke about the Internet of Things technology, a digital tool adapted for use in the viticulture industry, and also shared his view on the prospects for the growth of digital cases in the agro-industrial complex.
Co-owner of the Zhakov family winery, CIO of Payberry, Egor Zhakov, refuted the main stereotypes about Russian wine, told from the point of view of an engineer, answered questions from meeting participants about the role of AI in winemaking and why an IT specialist should make wine.
IT is actively penetrating into all areas of our lives, including such an interesting area as winemaking. We live in a region favorable for the development of viticulture, and digitalization of processes helps winemakers optimize production, monitor the condition of fruits and the external environment, such as the weather, and much more. Among our residents there are companies that both themselves create useful programs for winemakers and are direct producers of products. We are interested in ensuring that software products and technologies created by our residents are in demand by the agro-industrial complex. Our first meeting-tasting format was the first step towards this goal,” commented Dmitry Zelensky, General Director of Technopark “IT Crimea”.
