Regional stage of the High Technology Championship in Sevastopol

From April 22 to 26, the regional stage of the High Technology Championship is taking place in Sevastopol. The competition site is organized on the basis of Sevastopol State University.

The championship opened a round table, where representatives of vocational education institutions and research centers discussed the need for staffing technology projects, training new personnel for the new economy, as well as the role of the championship movement as a staffing tool.

The High Technology Championship is a competitive event based on competencies, the list of which was formed on the basis of the most dynamically developing and promising areas that are in demand in the conditions of high-tech production, digital economy and import substitution.

Sevastopol students of secondary specialized educational institutions participate in the “Development of virtual worlds” competency.

Today, specialists of this competence are in demand not only for the development of computer games and applications: they participate in research programs, improvement of night vision devices, development of programs for diagnostics, auxiliary applications for doctors during operations, and in the construction industry provide the development of prototypes of future buildings. The goal of the championship movement is to create conditions and a motivation system that contribute to increasing the significance and prestige of blue-collar professions, the professional growth of young people, as well as promoting prompt and effective staffing in various sectors of the economy.,” the press service of the director of the Maritime College of Sevastopol State University, Mikhail Maistrishin, quotes.

Five competitors — students of the Sevastopol Maritime College and the Sevastopol College of Information Technologies and Industry — demonstrate their professional skills during the competition. Over the course of three days, the contestants complete the task, their work being monitored by expert mentors and industry experts.

As a student, I also participated in various championships and hackathons, and winning one of them – the III National Interuniversity Championship “Young Professionals” – helped me get a job at the Russian VR company LikeVR. Championship movements provide an excellent opportunity for young people to show themselves, meet potential employers and learn from the experience of the best masters in their field. The works of competitors in the “Development of Virtual Worlds” competency are assessed according to special criteria. Experts and industry representatives evaluate everything, from the development process itself to the content of the project, what is in virtual reality. Participants write program code, and we evaluate how well this program code is written, how organized, understandable, and optimized it is. Participants also develop their own virtual world, which consists of 3D models of what we see. Competitors were asked to develop a virtual office for an IT company,” notes the chief expert at the “Development of Virtual Worlds” platform, Vasily Petrakov.

The winners of the regional stage in May and June of this year will take part in the qualifying stage, the finalists will advance to the final stage of the competition, which will take place in Veliky Novgorod.

IT technologies have fascinated me since childhood. I completed a robotics course at the Small Academy of Sciences. He was a participant in the educational session at the Laspi camp in the discipline “competitive robotics” from MAN. Now, as part of the championship, I am designing a company office with large spacious premises, with a ceiling of almost two floors. I decided that this would have a better impact on the well-being of employees, on their productivity and performance. I haven’t thought about further employment yet. Initially, I wanted to become a spacecraft designer, but recently I see more prospects in the specialty “information systems and programming”, in which I am studyingsays Vladimir Smetanin, a student at the Sevastopol College of Information Technologies and Industry.
