Relatives of SVO participants will be able to join support and mutual aid groups
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A training course was launched at the site of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, which became the first part of the federal program of spiritual and psychological assistance to participants, veterans of the Northern Military District and members of their families “Creation and activities of mutual aid and support groups.” More than 200 people from almost all regions of the country are already undergoing training. The event was organized by the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland (KSVO), co-organized by the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. The key speakers were the KSVO adviser for psychological support of participants, veterans of the North Military District and members of their families, practical and clinical psychologist Anna Gladkova, KSVO expert, crisis psychologist Mikhail Khasminsky and the spiritual mentor of the KSVO monk Kiprian (Burkov), a participant in combat operations in Afghanistan, Hero of the Soviet Union . What are self-help and support groups for? «Parliamentary newspaper» said the head of this project, Anna Gladkova.
Who would you recommend to join these groups? Why is this important for relatives of SVO participants? How can this help them, what problems can they solve?
— The training was organized for the active members of the regional headquarters of the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland, primarily for women: wives, mothers, sisters and other close relatives of participants and veterans of the Northern Military District. But any person participating as a volunteer in the activities of the KSVO, except psychologists and clergy, can join the training. They will receive separate training in organizing the activities of spiritual and psychological groups. Of course, military veterans themselves can study in our courses. This is especially welcome.
Mutual aid and support groups are groups consisting of those who are united by common problems and the desire to work together, supporting each other, to overcome them. Such groups regularly gather together to communicate, share their news, experiences and experiences of the trials that befell them. They gather to be together in joy and sorrow, to help each other and our soldiers in whatever way they can. And our women can do a lot! Victory at the front is forged in the rear!
It’s always hard to wait. The uncertainty is tormenting, worrying: will your loved one return alive? What if he went missing or was captured? What if you were seriously wounded, blinded, or otherwise injured? What if he died? How to survive grief, how not to go crazy? It’s hard, hard to survive grief. Without the support of loved ones it is difficult to pass such a test. And here, mutual aid and support groups for people like you, people close to you, who have already passed these tests and survived, are indispensable.
The task of creating mutual assistance and support groups is assigned, first of all, to the leaders of the regional headquarters of the KSVO, and the organization of the activities of such groups is the responsibility of those members of the KSVO activist who are ready to take on the responsibility and the very difficult burden of organizing this mutual support and assistance in the group. As a rule, these are not professionals, but our ordinary women who, having overcome difficult life situations, have shown resilience in difficult circumstances and leadership qualities. And our task is to give them and other group members the necessary knowledge and skills so that their meetings are held with maximum benefit.
Participation in mutual aid and support groups is about extending a helping hand in time to another person who needs it, and not leaving him alone with his own, sometimes very difficult, experiences. Moreover, such groups are not a replacement for professional help that can be provided by a specialist psychologist, psychotherapist or psychiatrist, but an alternative for those who do not need such help. It is enough for such a person to have close-minded people and their support nearby in order to survive a difficult life situation.
What do you plan to tell KSVO activists about? How will this knowledge help them in practice?
— Our training consists of several modules, which include both theoretical and quite extensive practical parts. We will talk about the principles of group work, its features, reveal a step-by-step algorithm for creating mutual aid and support groups from idea to implementation, explain how to correctly set goals for a group, where and how to place announcements about its creation, how to form it correctly so that it contributed to overcoming difficulties, rather than immersing them in them, we will inform you about the necessary technical equipment of a room or office for group work, how to interview candidates for participation in the work, about the general and special rules of the group that must be observed in order for it worked effectively, what is appropriate to formulate a thematic plan for meetings at the initial stage and much more…
Also, training participants will receive the basics of psychological knowledge and social interaction, which they will need to apply when communicating with each other and which will be useful to them in everyday life.
There will be quite a lot of practical sessions in which participants will be able to acquire certain skills and apply the acquired knowledge in practice, including in the most difficult situations that they may encounter during the work of the group. This is especially important for us.
How long will it take for mutual aid and support groups to appear in all regions of the country?
— It may be different in different regions. Much depends on the understanding of why such groups are needed, on the desire of the KSVO activist and support from the administration of the subject.
In some regions, mutual aid and support groups already exist in one form or another, and their leaders also came to us for training, since basically these groups were created spontaneously, intuitively, and the necessary knowledge and skills for running them do not yet exist.
Many regions that do not yet have such groups are ready to create them in the coming months. In any case, we hope that during this and next year they will definitely appear in every region.
