The renovated square is called «To the Conquerors of Space» and is located on Gagarin Avenue. The event was attended by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev and Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka.
Today we are opening a renovated square «To the Conquerors of Space». I hope it will become a favorite place for Sevastopol residents and children will like it. There is a lot of interesting history here. An exact copy in the size of 1:2 of the Vostok-1 spacecraft, on which Yuri Gagarin made the first flight into space, is installed in the square. Today, on a holiday, the Night Wolves brought to the park a model of a lunar rover and a real descent vehicle of the Soyuz MS-04 manned transport spacecraft.
They made a very beautiful park, wonderful! There are also multimedia screens where you can see information about the history of our astronautics and monuments, images of our ships, satellites and a stylistic image of our solar system, everything was done very beautifully— says the pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Oleg Skripochka.
The square has two playgrounds for games, an alley with gazebos, walking paths, an alley with pergolas. Irrigation and lighting systems are equipped, landscaping is carried out. For security, the park is equipped with a video surveillance system.
