Resident of Sevastopol sentenced to 22 years in prison for robbery and murder of a pensioner

The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee was recognized by the court as sufficient for a guilty verdict against a 41-year-old resident of Sevastopol. He was found guilty of committing murder and robbery against an elderly resident of the city (paragraph “h” part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The investigative department for the Gagarinsky district of the city of Sevastopol and the court established that an unemployed man decided to commit a robbery attack on an 81-year-old acquaintance, to whom he entered the house. Previously, his mother and wife worked as nurses for a pensioner, and he had information about her wealth. Late in the evening of February 15, 2022, being in a state of intoxication, he entered her apartment on the 1st floor of a house on Eroshenko Street, struck multiple blows on the head with a hammer. The attacker stole 200 thousand rubles, a watch and gold earrings from the apartment, having fled the scene of the crime— the press service of the Sledkom reports.
The brutal murder was solved in the shortest possible time. The man was detained after selling valuables stolen from the apartment.
As part of the investigation, all the necessary investigative actions and examinations were carried out, which confirmed the involvement of the man in a particularly serious crime (paragraph “h” part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)— noted in the Investigative Committee.
Today, by a court verdict, he was found guilty of the incriminated acts and sentenced on the basis of a jury verdict to 22 years in prison to be served in a penal colony with a strict regime.
