Interest in learning foreign languages in Russia is growing and more and more people are looking for tutors. Analysts of Avito Services and Avito studied how in the first half of 2025 the demand for the services of language schools and tutors has changed and what directions have become the most popular.
According to Avito services, English remains one of the most popular among the studied languages in the Crimea, but French has become a leader in the growth of demand — over the past year it is found 35% more often compared to the same period of 2024.
In second place in Chinese, the demand for which over the past year has increased by 16%.
Avito work analysts note that employers most often mention English in vacancies: it accounts for 53% of all sentences with the mention of any languages. At the same time, the demand for translators (+81%) and teachers (+25%) increased among specialists with knowledge of English in the first half of 2025. Also, 23% more often, knowledge of English began to be mentioned in vacancies of procurement specialists. As a rule, knowledge of English needs such specialists to work with foreign suppliers and international contracts. Without a language, it is difficult to negotiate, analyze documents and find favorable conditions in the global market.

In second place in demand among foreign languages among employers — Chinese. It is indicated in 10% of vacancies containing languages. As a rule, they are looking for translators, teachers, as well as sales managers or line personnel for work directly in China. Another 9% of vacancies with the mention of languages are proposals with the requirement of Japanese. They are looking for mainly language teachers.

The labor market demonstrates a clear trend: globalization of professions is accelerating, and language knowledge is not just a skill, but a basic requirement for a number of specialties. The growth of demand for translators and teachers is a natural consequence of the strengthening of international ties, even in the context of the changed economic reality. At the same time, Chinese and Japanese languages are gradually moving from the category of “exotic” to strategic status, especially for companies oriented to Asian markets. At the same time, the interest of employers in employees who speak Arabic is observed — the number of vacancies with the mention of this language increased by 9%. The numbers confirm: companies no longer just evaluate the language as a plus, but include it in mandatory conditions for effective work on cross -border projects— commented Roman Gubanov, director of the development of Avito work.
