Residents of Sevastopol lost almost 150 thousand rubles when buying goods on the Internet

Fraudsters create fictitious online stores or place tempting ads on trading floors, offering goods at suspiciously low prices. They persistently convince the buyer to make an advance payment, referring to a high demand or a limited amount of goods. As soon as the money comes to their account, the connection breaks off, and the site can be blocked:
- A 28-year-old man wanted to buy a gearbox for a car. He transferred 30 thousand rubles, but did not receive the goods.
- A 53-year-old man paid 47 thousand rubles for auto parts that were never delivered.
- A 45-year-old woman lost 36 thousand rubles while trying to buy a motorcycle through a phishing site.
- The 23-year-old girl transferred 25 thousand rubles per puppy of the bull terrier, but the seller disappeared after receiving the money.
The Sevastopol police strongly recommends that the maximum caution in the commission of online purchases. Before payment, it is necessary to carefully check the reputation of the seller and the reliability of the site. Particular attention should be paid to suspiciously low prices — this is the first sign of possible fraud.
