Residents of Sevastopol of the older generation passed the GTO standards
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On October 1, Older Persons’ Day is celebrated all over the world. On the eve of the holiday, active Sevastopol residents set an example for the younger generation and tried their hand at passing the GTO standards.
This Saturday, at the stadium of the sports and recreation complex named after the 200th anniversary of Sevastopol, the event “From the GTO sign to active longevity” took place. People over 55 years old could pass the standards from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In Sevastopol there are many people of silver age who love and regularly play sports– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports Sergei Reznichenko.
This year more than 60 people took part in the event. Participants in older age groups performed flexibility exercises — bending over, strength exercises, lifting the torso from a lying position on the floor and running a long distance.
It turned out to be an interesting, collective action. Some of the elderly people present already have silver or gold insignia, but many have changed their age level, and they came again to fulfill the standards. It’s great that our older generation is so active, they don’t age – neither in soul nor in body. It’s true: a healthy mind in a healthy body! — says Mikhail Kozakov, director of the Sevastopol GTO Testing Center.
On GTO website You can find a description of the standards depending on age and gender.
Today lifted the spirits of everyone present; silver age is not an obstacle to a healthy lifestyle. In our family, for example, everyone, young and old, is involved in sports in one way or another, and I try to set an example for my childrennotes Sevastopol resident Elena.
Anyone can pass the standard — you can find out more about what is needed for this in group of the Sevastopol GTO Testing Center.
