CrimeaPRESS reports:
The tutu travel service sums up preliminary results for 2023 and talks about the most popular railway destinations in Russia and abroad. The average bill for a train ticket within the country in 2023 for tutu clients is 2,746 rubles one way, abroad — 4,539 rubles one way.
According to tutu analysts, the top 3 popular railway destinations within Russia remained the same as last year. Most often in 2023, people traveled by train between Moscow and St. Petersburg: almost 9% of tickets were issued for travel between the two capitals. The average bill for a one-way ticket was 3,547 rubles.
The route Krasnodar — Sochi remained in second place in popularity (its share is 3.4%). The average bill for a ticket in this direction is 1,186 rubles one way. The Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod route also entered the top 3 most popular railway routes (its share is 1.7%). The average bill for a one-way trip is 2,215 rubles.
Tutu analysts note that there remains high demand for tickets to the southern regions, where some airports remain closed. For example, the Moscow-Simferopol railway route, which in 2022 rose from 50th to sixth place in popularity, is now in the top 5. The share of this direction is 1.3%. The top 20 also includes other popular southern cities: Rostov-on-Don, Voronezh, Anapa, Krasnodar. Of the routes included in the top 20, demand grew most on the routes Moscow — Rostov-on-Don, Moscow — Simferopol and Krasnodar — Sochi — by about 30%.
Also, the list of popular destinations has traditionally included regional centers, which are convenient and inexpensive to get to from Moscow. This year, the top 20 included trips from Moscow to Yaroslavl, Tula, Ryazan, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Bryansk and back. Average bills for one-way train tickets to these cities are 900–1400 rubles, which makes them attractive options for a short and budget trip. The St. Petersburg — Pskov direction, which is also included in the top 20, can be included in this category (the average bill is 930 rubles one way). These routes do not experience such a high increase in demand as for trains to Rostov-on-Don or Simferopol. Demand for tickets to Yaroslavl increased by 12%, to Bryansk — by 8%, to Tula — by 5%, to Ryazan and Ivanovo — by 3%, and to Vladimir — decreased by 14%.
