CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, the results of the competition to develop a sketch of the medal “80 years of the liberation of Sevastopol from fascist invaders” were summed up. 86 residents of the city took part in it, the oldest contestant was 78 years old, the youngest was 9 years old. The commission reviewed 100 sketches.
The winners, who shared first place, were teacher of the Sevastopol Children’s Art School Marina Voronezhskaya and photographer of the Sevastopol Television and Radio Company Anna Sadovnikova. The obverse of both sketches of the medal depicts a fragment of the diorama “Assault on Sapun Mountain on May 7, 1944,” the site of a key battle where Soviet soldiers showed incredible courage and heroism. On the reverse there will be an Eternal Flame — a symbol of memory and pride for the exploits of our ancestors, as well as the words “remember”, “we are proud”.
The best children’s works have also been identified. The commission noted the sketches of three young participants:
- student of the Sevastopol children’s art school Gleb Barvinok, 14 years old;
- student of the Sevastopol Children’s Art School Sofia Ostapenko, 11 years old;
- student of the Sevastopol center for helping children without parental care, “Our Home” Vyacheslav Sharov, 15 years old.
The medal will subsequently be awarded to citizens awarded the medal “For the Defense of Sevastopol” and the badge “Resident of Besieged Sevastopol.”
