Results of the Sevastopol volleyball tournament among teams of hero cities

From May 15 to 18, the volleyball tournament “Cup of Hero Cities” was held in Sevastopol, dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol from fascist invaders. The ceremonial closing of the competition took place at the new sports and recreation complex on Shevchenko Street.
Friends, in 2024 our tournament will definitely be remembered by its participants and will go down in history. Despite enemy attacks, we were able to hold and successfully complete the cup. That is why no one in the world can defeat our great country and will never win. Because we have the strongest spirit, strong-willed people. Thank you very much for coming, you are great. For the first time, a volleyball tournament among teams of hero cities, dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, took place in 2021. And in 2024, we tried to do everything to make the tournament participants feel comfortable and able to spend their time profitably. The teams attended excursions and visited the legendary places of our city– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the sports department Sergei Reznichenko.
Among girls, the first place was won by the Volgograd team, second place by representatives of Sevastopol, and third place by the Moscow team. Among young men, the first place was won by the team from Belgorod, the second place – by representatives of Volgograd, and the third place – by the team from the Kherson region. Among the veterans, the Moscow team is in first place, the representatives of Sevastopol are in second, and the Volgograd team is in third.
The competition took place in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Over the course of four days we fought against strong opponents and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Thank you very much to the organizers for the competition, as well as for the cultural program,” notes Belgorod team coach Anatoly Goncharov.
This year, more than 270 athletes from the hero cities of Volgograd, Moscow, Novorossiysk, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, as well as teams from the Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions and the city of Belgorod took part in the competition.
The event was implemented within the framework of the regional project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.
