Rice harvest in Crimea

The harvesting of rice sown for the first time in 8 years has started in Crimea.
This year it is planned to obtain about 4 thousand tons of grain from 712, 2 hectares. Approximately 10% of which will be used for sowing for the harvest of the 2023 year, which will increase sown areas up to 4.5 thousand hectares. Let me remind you that 7 Crimean enterprises sowed rice for the harvest 2022 of the year. For sowing, elite seeds were used. The seed material was provided by the Krasnodar Rice Research Center. Now harvesting is taking place at OOO Chernyshevskoye 10, where the varieties Diamant, Favorit and Patriot were sown on the square 157 hectares. A few weeks ago, farmers let the water in the checks so that the soil dries out and harvesting equipment can enter the field, the press service quotes First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Alima Zaredinov.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Crimea, after harvesting, rice from the enterprise’s field enters the grain bin, where it is dried to the required state in order to undergo primary processing from husks and impurities, and then sent to the rice shop, where it is cleaned, polished, brought to a white state, the usual buyer.
LLC «Chernyshevskoe 10» is one of the largest agricultural enterprises in the region. In the use of which there are more than 10 thousand hectares of farmland. This year, more than 8,000 hectares are subject to harvesting. The enterprise specializes in the cultivation of cereals and the production of industrial crops. The harvesting campaign of early cereals and leguminous crops on the fields of the agricultural company was successful, 38% of the areas from which 2022 tons were harvested grains with an average yield of early cereals 15, 5 c/ha is one of the best indicators in the region. The enterprises also completed the harvesting of rapeseed, flax and millet in the fields.
The farm annually invests more than 15 million rubles in fixed capital, the funds are directed to the acquisition of new cost-effective mechanisms and the renewal of the machine and tractor fleet.
The main varieties of rice that are now grown in the Crimea are Favorit, Regul, Apollo, Rapan, Veles, Rolevik, Diamant.
This year Krasnoperekopsk rice growers have added two more varieties to 4 varieties, which they purchased from the Kuban Rice Institute — «Patriot» and «Istok». With the start of the work of the North Crimean Canal this year, rice was sown in 3 districts of the republic: Krasnoperekopsky — 100 ha, Nizhnegorsky — 13, 2 ha, Razdolnensky — 422 ha.
Reference: Eight years ago 38 farms of the republic grew rice on , 5 thousand ha. And only in nine of them the yield was lower than 60 centners per hectare, in all the rest 52 and higher. The largest areas of rice were in the Krasnoperekopsky district.
