«Road Safety Week» in Crimea. What does it mean

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Special attention to motorcyclists.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate officers will conduct a series of preventive measures in Crimea called “Road Safety Week”.

Over the first 7 months of the current year, 673 road traffic accidents were registered in the Republic of Crimea, in which 91 people died and 815 received bodily injuries of varying severity. During the specified period, 562 road traffic accidents were committed due to violation of traffic rules by drivers, in which 64 road users died and 730 were injured.

92 road accidents involving drivers of motorcycles, mopeds and equivalent vehicles were registered, in which 11 people died and 94 received bodily injuries of varying severity, of which 65 occurred due to violation of the Traffic Rules by motor vehicle drivers.— the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported.

The current accident situation in a number of areas of the Republic of Crimea is a cause for concern, since drivers of certain categories of vehicles violate traffic rules, which result in accidents with serious consequences.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea initiated a set of operational and preventive measures “Road Safety Week” from August 14 to 20, 2024, aimed at preventing accidents, warning and suppressing traffic violations by motorcyclists, cyclists, and drivers of vehicles with technical faults.

State Traffic Safety Inspectorate officers remind motor vehicle drivers of their main responsibilities:

It is necessary to move only with a fastened motorcycle helmet, use protective equipment, move with low beam headlights — this requirement applies to all types of vehicles, including motorcycles, choose a safe speed, keep a distance and lateral interval when maneuvering. When moving in the dark or in conditions of poor visibility, it is advisable to have items with reflective elements on your clothes.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate warns that in cases where motor vehicles are driven by persons who do not have a driver’s license, or who are intoxicated, the vehicle will be detained and placed in a specialized parking lot.

It is important to remember that the key condition for safe travel on motor vehicles is strict compliance with the Traffic Regulations and respect for other road users.
