Road wars, Sevastopol style: when words alone are not enough
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Sevastopol police detained a suspect who damaged a local resident’s car out of hooliganism. The perpetrator was a 37-year-old unemployed local resident who, in a fit of anger, threw a plastic bottle of water at the windshield of someone else’s car and smashed it.
It was established that when leaving the shopping center parking lot, a conflict arose between two car owners — a man and a woman. According to the first, he had the right of way, which the female driver did not give him. As a result of the verbal altercation that began between the road users, the driver stopped his vehicle on the roadway in front of the opponent’s car and did not allow her to continue driving. When the woman and her passenger got out of the car to ask the motorist how long this behavior would continue, he also got out of his car and began spraying pepper spray in their direction. After this, the troublemaker picked up a plastic bottle of water from the ground, threw it with force at the windshield of the 31-year-old woman’s car, smashed it and disappeared. The amount of material damage caused was about 73 thousand rubles.— the Sevastopol Department of Internal Affairs reported.
As a result of operational and investigative activities, the criminal investigation officers of the OMVD of Russia for the Leninsky District detained the suspect. The investigation department opened a criminal case against him on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Intentional destruction or damage to property committed out of hooligan motives»). The article provides for a penalty of up to five years’ imprisonment.
