Robbery «on a jerk» in Alushta. The police worked quickly

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Alushta, the police received a message from a local resident that a 67-year-old neighbor turned to her for help, and in broad daylight near the entrance, an unknown person tore a gold chain from her neck from behind and disappeared in an unknown direction. The amount of material damage caused to the victim amounted to 10,000 rubles.

Employees of the criminal investigation department, as a result of operational search activities, identified a suspect in the crime, who turned out to be a 40-year-old Simferopol resident temporarily residing in Alushta. It has been established that the man has been repeatedly convicted, in particular for committing a similar crime.— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

The suspect wrote a confession and explained that he was at a public transport stop, where his attention was attracted by a gold chain with a pendant around the neck of a woman of retirement age. The attacker followed the potential victim all the way to the house, and at the moment when she stopped in front of the entrance door, he ran up from behind and tore off the jewelry from his neck. The pensioner held the chain with her hand, but the attacker managed to tear off part of the jewelry. The suspect pawned the stolen part of the chain in a pawnshop. He spent the proceeds for her money in the amount of 7,200 rubles for personal needs.

Part of the stolen jewelry was seized by the police from the pawnshop.

The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Alushta initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Robbery”). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 4 years. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen against the attacker— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

Police officers remind: if you have become a victim of a crime or your property has been stolen, immediately report this to the police at a single number 102 or apply in writing to the nearest department. It is much easier to solve a crime in hot pursuit.
