Rospotrebnadzor calls on Sevastopol residents to defend and boil water

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The water that will be supplied to the network in Sevastopol after a two-day shutdown will fully comply with the standards, but it is not recommended to drink it immediately for some time. About this on the radio «Sputnik in Crimea» said the chief specialist-expert of the sanitary supervision department of the Interregional Directorate of Rospotrebnadzor for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol Oksana Belosheykina.

According to the specialist, as of January 22, the water did not meet the standards for organoleptic indicators — there were “characteristic color and turbidity«. In this regard, they decided to limit water supply for two days, January 22 and 23, in order to carry out the necessary work during this time “to bring water quality to regulatory requirements«. Vodokanal specialists were also ordered to carry out hyperchlorination of drinking water.

This should not frighten the population, this is a necessary measure in order to avoid the occurrence of infectious diseases— quotes a specialist RIA Novosti Crimea.

However, after water is supplied to the network in full after restrictions, it is not recommended to drink it immediately for some time, although it will meet all regulatory indicators, a representative of Rospotrebnadzor warned. The first portion of water, according to her, will need to be drained altogether by opening the tap at full capacity.

Then, in order to avoid drinking water with a high content of chlorine and, possibly, some mechanical impurities, if they come from the water supply, I would recommend settling this water. Pour into either enamel containers or glass, and leave without a lid so that the sun’s rays do not enter the water, that is, away from the window. And then be sure to boiladvises Belosheykina.

The expert emphasized that during the absence of water in the network, the population is supplied with water from guaranteed sources, which fully complies with regulatory requirements.

Its quality is also controlled by us and the Vodokanal laboratory.— assured the representative of Rospotrebnadzor.

According to her, the situation that has developed in Sevastopol, “unpleasant, but not critical» and may happen «in any locality where water supply is from a surface source«.
