As part of the implementation of the state defense order in 2023, Rostec supplied the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation with the first batch of new 2S19M1 Msta-S self-propelled artillery mounts. The upgraded version of the howitzer is equipped with an automated guidance and fire control system (ASUNO), which allows firing at targets around the clock and in all weather conditions.
ASUNO provides autonomous determination of the current coordinates and automatic calculation of installations for firing from closed firing positions, as well as the implementation of an anti-fire maneuver. The aiming of the gun and its recovery after the shot are carried out automatically, which not only significantly improves the time and accuracy characteristics, but also facilitates the work of the gunner. Automation of the loading process, as well as the choice of the type of projectile and the ejection of spent cartridges in automatic mode, reduce the physical burden of the crew and ensure a rate of fire when using transportable ammunition of 8 rounds per minute.
