How to act at the first symptoms
The main steps for rotavirus infection are timely rehydration (replenishment of fluid and salts) and antiviral therapy. One of the drugs with proven effectiveness against Rotavirus, according to Professor Prodeus, is Umifenovir (Arbidol). It blocks the penetration of the virus into the cells and prevents its reproduction, thereby reducing the viral load.
Arbidol can be used both for treatment and the prevention of rotavirus and other acute intestinal infections, and not just SARS and influenza, as many people believe, the specialist explains. It is important to remember: antibiotics with rotavirus infection are ineffective and even dangerous — they violate the intestinal microflora and can aggravate the condition.
What to put in a road first -aid kit
When collecting a first -aid kit, especially if children go on vacation with you, do not forget to put funds in it that can prevent the consequences of rotavirus infection:
- electrolyte solutions for rehydration;
- antipyretic drugs (paracetamol, ibuprofen);
- Antiviral agent of a wide spectrum of action;
- Enterosorbents;
- probiotics for the restoration of intestinal flora;
- antihistamines;
- thermometer (better electronic);
- antiseptics and napkins for hygiene;
- Bints, plasters, sterile napkins.
