Russia now has a law on data protection in real estate from hackers

Russian President Vladimir Putin says «Russian newspaper», signed into law on protection against cyberattacks of registration data in the field of real estate. According to the documents, the list of subjects of critical information infrastructure will be supplemented by the owners of systems and networks operating in the field of state registration of rights to real estate and transactions with it. We are talking about the protection of information systems, networks and control systems. One of the authors, Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma Committee on Security, noted that new rules are being introduced to ensure the security of registration data in the real estate sector, “to protect them from hacker attacks and theft.”
One can only guess what the consequences of hackers’ attempts to break into databases and, for example, change data on the owners of real estate or simply steal this information for fraudulent purposes will lead to, the politician said.
Member of the Committee on Budget and Taxes Nikita Chaplin (United Russia faction) in a commentary to RG stressed that now it is extremely important to pay special attention to protection against theft of registration data in the field of real estate, especially when it comes to the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation. At the same time, he noted that the Russian special services successfully repel the attacks.
