Russia — Week of Popularization of Active Sports
CrimeaPRESS reports:
From August 12 to 18, at the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Health, Russia is holding a Week of Popularization of Active Sports with the aim of increasing the motivation and commitment of the population to regular physical activity.
Low physical activity, along with smoking, excess body weight, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, is an independent, autonomous risk factor for the development of diseases. In particular, it increases the risk of developing: coronary heart disease by 30%, type 2 diabetes by 27%, colon cancer and breast cancer by 21–25%.
To maintain health, it is not necessary to engage in professional sports. It is enough to do any exercises daily for 30 minutes, or engage in moderate walking — about 10 thousand steps a day. If a person decides to visit a gym or engage in any intense physical activity, then before this it is recommended to visit a general practitioner to take simple tests that will help determine whether there are any contraindications to engaging in certain sports. All these studies are included in a preventive medical examination, — the press service quotes Olga Barilo, chief freelance therapist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
