Russian Emergencies Ministry helicopters made over 100 water drops while extinguishing a fire in Koktebel

Today, helicopters of the Russian Emergencies Ministry dropped 150 tons of fire extinguishing fluid on the fire. In total, the aviation carried out 105 drops with a total volume of 386 tons— quotes the specialist TASS.
She specified that almost 300 people and more than 30 units of equipment continue to extinguish the fire. Firefighters are working in hard-to-reach mountainous and forested terrain in difficult conditions. Water is being delivered using all-terrain vehicles. Extinguishing is complicated by hot, dry and windy weather.
Wildfire near Koktebel in Crimea has begun on the afternoon of July 15. Its initial area was 20 hectares. By the morning of July 16, it was localized on an area of 40 hectares. Due to dry and windy weather, the fire spread over a large area of the Karadagsky Reserve. As reported by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk, police officers identified the 50-year-old culprit of the incident: the fire started due to the ignition of dry grass from a spark while cutting metal with a grinder. A criminal case has been opened on this fact.
