Russian painters create images of the past, present and future of Tauride Chersonesus
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The ancient city, with its majestic architecture and the spirit of millennia reigning in every stone, always attracts creative people. In October, participants in two plein airs decided to capture the picturesque autumn landscapes of Tauride Chersonesos.
Organizing creative workshops at this time of year at the museum-reserve has become a good tradition. This idea has great resonance and finds a response among artists, so this season two groups of painters are working simultaneously, – the press service of the museum-reserve quotes the head of the exhibition department of the museum-reserve P. N. Khlebovsky.
The organizer of the “Ancient City” project was the Creative Union of Artists of Sevastopol. More than 10 professional painters from Crimea, Sevastopol, Rostov-on-Don and Moscow take part in it. Plein air “Creative workshops in Chersonesos” was organized by the Sevastopol branch of the Union of Artists of Russia.
The goal of both projects is to unite artists of different directions in the space of the museum-reserve and create works dedicated to the ancient city. In them you can see the historical context and modernity in the aesthetics of Antiquity and medieval Byzantium. Masters of the brush will try to create something fundamentally new, to present a conceptual rethinking of history through the prism of artistic perception. To do this, in the museum-reserve, painters not only get acquainted with the archaeological heritage of Chersonesos, but also try unusual options for working with color, light and texture.
For example, Evgenia Lyubarskaya creates a number of graphic works dedicated to Hercules. “The moment of his deep reflection and choice is important to me: where was his soul then, what was he thinking about and what was tormented by him. I am sure that during the plein airs we will be able to understand and give Chersonesos new images of Antiquity and Byzantium,” notes the artist.
You can get acquainted with the results of the creative searches and discoveries of the plein air participants at the museum-reserve on November 4, National Unity Day. We are sure that the autumn light and the rich history of ancient Chersonesos will inspire artists and allow them to create amazing paintings.
