On the basis of the Yug yacht club, interregional sailing competitions have started. They will end on July. From the strongest athletes of the Southern Federal District will be identified, who will then be included in the list of candidates for the national sailing teams of the SFD subjects. Athletes from ten cities participate in the competition — Simferopol, Sochi, Anapa, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, Azov, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Volgodonsk, Taganrog and Sevastopol. Almost all Olympic yacht classes are represented, as well as children’s yacht classes.
We have five members of the Russian national team — from Sevastopol. This year, our children successfully performed at the competitions of the association in the class «Optimist» and were selected to the national team in the class «Optimist» — Artem Cherpita and Elizaveta Chiglataya. In August they will represent the Russian sailing team at international competitions. This is a serious success , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for youth and sports, Sergei Reznichenko.
According to the results of the competition, athletes will be able not only to join the reserve of sports teams of the Southern Federal District in sailing, but also to improve their skills and yachting qualifications and fulfill the category standards.
Recall that the championship and superiority of the Southern Federal District in Sevastopol are held for the fourth time. This is one of the most popular regattas of the season, favored by favorable weather conditions and waters.
