The Saksky District Court of the Republic of Crimea issued a conviction in the criminal case to two siblings accused of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30 hours 4 tbsp. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — an attempt on fraud, that is, intentional actions directly aimed at the theft of someone else’s property by deception committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, on a particularly large scale, if the crime was not completed due to circumstances that were beyond this person.
During the judicial investigation, the circumstances of the crime were established. In April 2024, the accused brothers, together with the person, the criminal case against which was allocated in separate proceedings, with the aim of personal enrichment decided to make theft of funds on an especially large scale. For a monetary reward in the amount of 8 million rubles, the brothers promised their relative, in respect of whom a criminal case was previously instituted and during his investigation a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen, to assist in a decision on a change in the chosen preventive measure for a softer, as well as on the sentencing not related to deprivation of liberty, convincing the relative that there are extensive relations among senior officials in the prosecution authorities, the judicial corps of the Republic of Crimea and the FSB of Russia. In fact, the accomplices were not going to fulfill their obligations, and funds intended to steal a total of 8 million rubles for a total of 8 million rubles-voiced the details of the case in the press service of the court.
The actions of the participants in the criminal group were suppressed by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol at the stage of transferring part of the amount of 1 million rubles. The brothers were detained as part of the operational-search event “Operational Experiment” to expose the criminal activity of a group of persons in which the victim voluntarily participated.
For committing an attempt on a serious crime, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced them to 3.5 and 3 years in prison in a penal colony of general regime.
The sentence did not enter into legal force.
