«Salute of Victory» in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. Have you seen?
Krympress reports:
In the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, a parade of tulips started, which takes place in Yalta for the 18th time.
In 2025, this floral parade is called the “Salute of Victory”, since it is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. One of the points of the opening program of this year was a concert at the art gallery of the Nikitsky Botsyad, in which songs of the war years were sounded. Muscovite German Filimonov and Yalta Nikolai Noskov performed songs we know since childhood: “Favorite City”, “You are waiting, Lizaveta”, “Birds are not singing here” and other compositions that caused a spiritual response among the audience.
From this day, we are starting an action where in social networks we will talk about the relatives of our employees who participated in the Great Patriotic War. This action will last until May 9, thus our Tulip parade, which we called the “Salute of Victory,” there will respect the memory of those who gave their lives in the fields of that war and will be in support of those who are fighting now on the fronts of their own, -emphasizes the director of the NBS-NNC, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor, honored figure of science and technology of the Republic of Crimea, chairman of the Council of Botanical Gardens of Russia Yuri Vladimirovich Dlugatar.
On this exciting day, despite the rain, people from different parts of Russia enjoyed the variety of colors and forms of tulips, which are considered Dutch plants, but in the Crimea these flowers grow in the fields and wild form. Tulips have grown here since the founding of the NBS, and the work on their selection has been carried out since 1961. This time 110 thousand bulbs of tulips were planted. 158 varieties spread in a bright carpet in front of the guests of the exhibition. This year, the botanical garden broke its own record, presenting 62 varieties of Dutch selection. Last year, there were 36 new products. The varieties of the breeding of the Nikitsky Garden were also presented at the exhibition, but they belong to the class of the recent -enlighteners, so they will bloom a little later.
Terry and parrot tulips, changing color, especially attracted the attention of the public. Both children and adults admired the flowers and memorized their names, because, according to tradition, visitors to the tulips parade were invited to choose the best, most beautiful variety, voting for the title of general of the tulip parade.
Traditionally, we will choose the general of the parade, and from Monday, from April 7, it will be possible to vote both on social networks and on the website of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, and by May 9 the winner will be determined— said the leading researcher at the florishing laboratory, candidate of biological sciences Svetlana Plugatar.
She also noted that those 62 varieties of foreign selection, which belong to the Garden class, “Triumph”, differ in a variety of colors and over time, like chameleons, change color. When asked what kind of variety she herself would vote, Svetlana said that it is difficult for her to make a choice because they are all beautiful.
Young cadets at the opening of the exhibition read poetry, artists created new works, photographers chose successful locations, and tulips pleased visitors not only in the exhibition site, but also in the most interesting corners of the entire Arboloretum.
According to the director of the Nikitsky Garden Yuri Vladimirovich Plugatar, the flowers will delight visitors for at least three weeks.
Do not miss this fabulous floristic event!
