SBU agent to stand trial in Crimea. Accused of attempted murder of serviceman from Dzhankoy
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 62-year-old citizen of Ukraine. The SBU agent is accused of attempted murder in connection with the performance of official duties by a person, committed in a generally dangerous manner based on political, ideological hatred and enmity; illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and carrying of explosives, explosive devices, firearms and ammunition for them, illegal manufacture of an explosive device.
The investigation established that an employee of the Ukrainian special services developed a plan to eliminate a serviceman who had previously served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and after the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol joined the Russian Federation, he transferred to the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In order to commit a particularly serious crime, the curator persuaded a resident of the Czech Republic, who was temporarily living in Simferopol and was a citizen of Ukraine, to secretly cooperate.
On instructions from the SBU, the agent purchased striking elements from which he made an explosive device, rented an apartment near the future victim’s place of residence. On September 23 last year, near a house on Sadovaya Street in the city of Dzhankoy, an accomplice of the Ukrainian special services installed an explosive device on the bottom of a serviceman’s car and remotely detonated it. However, he was unable to carry out his criminal intent aimed at murder— the Investigative Committee provided details.
The perpetrator was identified and detained by officers of the UFSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Republic of Crimea. The investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The materials have been sent for approval of the indictment and further referral of the case to court for consideration on the merits.
