Scandal in Crimea – a deputy is accused of extortion
CrimeaPRESS reports:
According to the Investigative Committee, a criminal case has been opened in Crimea against a deputy of the Nizhnegorsk rural settlement and his accomplice, an individual entrepreneur from the same area. The investigating authorities charged them with extortion by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on a large scale (clauses “a, d”, part 2 of article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
An investigator from the Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases established that the accomplices demanded that a resident of the Nizhnegorsky district, who had previously bought two plots of land in the Mitrofanovskoye rural settlement from the brother of a businessman, sell these lands back to him, only at a reduced price. For the purpose of extortion, the accomplices posted videos on social networks against the new owner of the plots and his relatives with false defamatory information.
The actions of the attackers were stopped by operational officers of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. Searches were carried out at the places of residence of the defendants, information of interest to the investigative authorities was seized— reported in Sledkom.
In accordance with Article 447 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, deputies belong to the category of persons in respect of whom a special procedure for criminal proceedings is applied. In connection with this, the criminal case was initiated personally by the head of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Vladimir Terentyev.
The accused admitted their guilt in full, cooperated with the investigative authorities, and therefore the court chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest against them.
The criminal investigation continues. Other possible facts of illegal acts on the part of the deputy and his accomplice are established.
