Scientists from the Crimean Federal University are studying the coast of the Sea of Azov
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Scientists from the Crimean Federal University and the Russian Geographical Society are conducting a comprehensive Azov expedition, the purpose of which is to study the coast of the Sea of Azov to identify the tourism and recreational resource potential of the Azov region. This was reported by Gennady Samokhin, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism of the Vernadsky Kazan Federal University. The expedition is attended by the university’s research fellows in the field of tourism, recreation and landscape studies.
The expedition stage is currently underway. We are clarifying the natural features of the territory, as well as surveying holidaymakers, hoteliers and local administrations. We have collected unique factual material. We have found that existing recreation centers practically do not use the capabilities of Internet resources for advertising and promoting their accommodation facilities.— the university press service quotes Gennady Samokhin, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism of Kazan Federal University.
The work was carried out in the Kherson region. Within the framework of the project, specialists identified two large promising tourist and recreational areas — Genichesk and Arabat, and also described eight tourist and recreational sub-areas.
The researchers also studied the Arabat Spit. During the work, the university scientists analyzed more than 100 km of beaches on the Azov Sea and the Sivash coast. As a result of the research, the specialists identified steep and abrasive banks on the Chokrak and Semenovsky peninsulas, recorded active artesian wells, and noted problematic issues — unauthorized dumps and poor-quality roads.
The expedition is being conducted by the Crimean Federal University and the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.
