Sentence to a junior sergeant in Sevastopol: more than 5 years in prison for evading military service during the period of mobilization

The Sevastopol garrison military court passed a verdict against a serviceman of the Black Sea Fleet, junior sergeant T., who was convicted of committing a crime under Part 5 of Art. 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Junior Sergeant T., during the period of mobilization, being a military serviceman under contract, in order to temporarily evade military service, wanting to help his friend with housework and childcare, without good reason in October 2022 did not come to place of military service and from the indicated time he lived in the city of Simferopol, where he spent time at his own discretion. On February 3, 2023, T. arrived at the military investigation department and wrote a confession. He admitted his guilt in full.— noted in the press service of the Sevastopol garrison military court.
For committing the above actions, Tryapkin was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 5 (five) years 4 (four) months to be served in a correctional colony of general regime. The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed within the time limit established by law in the appeal procedure.
