For this they were subjected to numerous tortures, and then beheaded, and only then did the three girls die. Sophia herself, having buried her daughters, died of grief three days later. According to the scripture, at the time of death, Vera was 12 years old, Lyubov was 9, and Nadezhda was 10. By the way, there is a version that the girls had Greek names: Pistis, Elpis and Agape, which were translated into Russian. Sophia’s name means «wisdom».
The people celebrated Baba’s name day on this day. Women were forbidden to do any housework, and young girls got together and went to festive gatherings.
