Sergei Aksyonov handed over the gold star of the Hero of Russia to the family of Guard Major Dmitry Degtyarev

On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov presented the state award of the Gold Star medal of the Hero of the Russian Federation to the family of Guard Major of the Airborne Forces Dmitry Degtyarev.

The title of Hero of Russia was awarded to Guard Major Dmitry Degtyarev posthumously by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of December 25, 2023 for courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty during a special military operation.

Sergei Aksenov expressed deep condolences to the family and colleagues of the fallen warrior.

Having been wounded, Dmitry Sergeevich did not leave the battlefield and saved his comrades at the cost of his life. This is the act of a real man and defender of his homeland. I am sure that the children will be proud of their father and will cherish the memory of his featsaid the Head of Crimea.

In turn, the chief of artillery of the Russian Airborne Guards, Colonel Alexey Konakov, noted that Dmitry Degtyarev has always been an example for his colleagues and a role model among his subordinates. His feat became proof of his devotion to the Fatherland and his people.
