Sergey Aksyonov awarded Crimeans who took part in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline

The resolution on the construction of the BAM was adopted on July 8, 1974. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov presented jubilee medals to Crimeans who took part in the construction work.
The builders were awarded by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their active participation in the construction, reconstruction, development and maintenance of the BAM and its infrastructure facilities, and responsible performance of their official and civic duty. Among them are graduates of the Simferopol Higher Military-Political Construction School (SVVPSU), who served in the railway troops.
Sergey Aksyonov congratulated those present at the awards ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the start of construction of the BAM, emphasizing the importance and scale of the project.
It was truly a construction project of the century, and we are proud that our fellow countrymen took part in the implementation of a national-level project that had no analogues in world practice. The work was carried out in extremely difficult climatic conditions, on the edge of human capabilities: railways were laid, bridges and railway stations, sidings, new cities and towns were built“, said the Head of Crimea, expressing confidence that all Crimeans understand the importance of the highway for the Motherland.
The event was attended by the head of the Crimean regional organization of veterans of railway troops SVVPSU Vladimir Yakubchik.
REFERENCE. On July 8, 1974, the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR adopted a Resolution on the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline, one of the largest in the world. BAM extends for 4.3 thousand km, passes through Eastern Siberia and the Far East. Today, thanks to the mainline, millions of tons of cargo are transported, the eastern direction is developing. On the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, the BAM infrastructure is being actively modernized.
