The Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov held a meeting with the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin. During the event, issues of peacekeeping and interfaith activities, maintaining interethnic harmony, and spiritual and moral education were discussed.

As Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin noted, with the direct support of President Vladimir Putin, Russia pays special attention to spiritual revival, preservation of historical and family values ​​of all peoples living in the country.

It is not for nothing that we say that we belong to the great Russian world, and the Russian world unites different peoples, cultures, religions. We are different, but at the same time united. We are a single Russian people. And we all care about the unity and well-being of the country, the indivisibility and integrity of our state.said the Chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

In addition, Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin expressed gratitude to Sergei Aksyonov for his attention to the needs of Muslims in Crimea, including the construction of the Cathedral Mosque in the city of Simferopol and the revival of other historical and cultural monuments.

In turn, the Head of the Republic emphasized that the Simferopol Cathedral Mosque has become the pearl of Crimea and part of the cultural heritage along with the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which will be passed on to future generations of Crimeans.

Sergei Aksyonov emphasized that today harmonious interfaith and interethnic relations have developed in the republic.

We understand that only respect for each other’s traditions, culture, and religion will move us forward and help strengthen, develop and prosper our great country. As throughout all of Russia, here in Crimea we do not feel any differences based on nationality or religion. We are all Russians, citizens of the Russian Federation. And this unity is the key to the successful development of our state– the Head of Crimea believes.

The Head of the Republic of Crimea also highly appreciated the contribution of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia and personally Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin to the establishment of peace and harmony in the country.

Of course, this work is being carried out jointly with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, and leaders of other traditional faiths. Crimea is following your example. The Interfaith Council of Crimea «Peace is a Gift of God» makes a great contribution to preserving traditions and mutual understanding, the ability of people to hear each other and find a compromise– noted the Head of Crimea.
