CrimeaPRESS reports:
Commentary by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov in connection with the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture.
Cyril and Methodius. Great enlighteners and saints, “apostles of the Slavs.”
These two missions — educational and spiritual — cannot be separated. Cyril and Methodius brought our ancestors both writing and the Good News about Christ in an understandable, native language. That is, everything that became the basis of the great and original civilization of the Russian world, the spiritual and cultural foundation of Russian statehood. Therefore, we celebrate the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture on May 24, when the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy brothers equal to the apostles.
Today this date has acquired a special meaning. The West is trying to destroy our civilizational code, “cancel” Russian culture, divide and quarrel the peoples united by the great heritage of Cyril and Methodius. This heritage helps us to resist evil together, to affirm and strengthen our unity, which our enemies fear so much, and to win togethersays the commentary of the Head of Crimea.
