Sevastopol announces a three-day festival in the Baidar Valley
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Very soon, from June 23 to June 25, a bright festival «Summer Solstice» will be held in the Baydar Valley. This is a project of the participants of the «Creative Workshop», implemented by the ANO «Center for the Formation of Civic Culture» with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The venue for the event will be the picturesque Urkusta Park in the village of Peredovoe. There will be a real holiday dedicated to the summer solstice — an astronomical phenomenon when the sun is at its highest point for the whole year. The organizers of the festival claim that since ancient times, on the day of the summer solstice, all the peoples of the earth, regardless of nationality and place of residence, unanimously celebrated this holiday of the blossoming of nature.
The Summer Solstice is a time when fire, water and herbs are endowed with special power. The holiday will be dedicated to these natural phenomena. It is believed that at this time fire and water are friends, although they are opposing elements.— say the organizers of the project, the finalists of the «Creative Workshop».
A lot of fire awaits the participants, and this is not a joke: the festival program includes a reconstruction of an old ritual around a fire, a fiery performance from Misterium, jumping over a fire, walking on coals. Also at the event will be organized sites for blacksmithing, glass bead making, casting pewter figurines, archery.
On the evening of Friday, June 23, guests of the event will enjoy a fascinating lecture by Sergey Nazarov, a researcher at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory, about the Sun and other stars. Those who wish will be able to observe the stars and the setting moon through a telescope. On Saturday, June 24, there will be a grass carpet weaving site that claims to be the most amazing and fragrant location of the festival. Also, everyone will be able to weave a wreath of medicinal herbs and buy herbal tea at the fair, or on Sunday, prepare the herbal collection by joining the picturesque herb hike.
The program will be complemented by round dances and games, a crafts fair, master classes and lectures. The festival will draw a certificate for horseback riding, which can be used immediately after receiving, since the equestrian club is located very close to Urkusta Park, a children’s program, organized meals, a concert of the Ognivets folk group and much more are planned.
