Sevastopol approved the items of more than 30 public transport stops

At a meeting of the interdepartmental toponymic commission, they discussed the issue of appropriation of the names with new ones and renaming the existing public transport stops. The purpose of the work is to streamline the navigation system for passengers, to ensure logical and geographically reasonable identification of stops. During the meeting, they discussed the name of 37 stops.

We tried to approach the issues neutrally and balanced — to call stops on geographical or socially significant landmarks. This is necessary for both residents and guests of the city. A number of proposals require additional discussion with residents and administrations of the districts. Thus, support received a proposal to appropriate names for the nearest geographical landmarks — for example, “Garage Cooperative East”, “Internationalist” in Andreevka, “Ozernaya street” in the village of Osipenko, “Rural Street” on the Monastyrskoye Shosse, “Garden partnership Victoria” in Balaclava and others.

Particular attention was paid to stops in the area of the Choreography Academy on Captainskaya Street. The stop, where nearby is also the monument “dead in the Civil War”, was proposed to name the “embankment of reconciliation”, but the decision was postponed for additional discussion. The participants in the commission noted that the term “reconciliation” in the context of history causes disputes and requires a balanced approach, taking into account the development of adjacent territories— said Maxim Zhukalov.

The proposals were also postponed by the name of stops in the area of Stoletovsky Prospekt, where a square will be located nearby, the name of which was also considered by the commission and was postponed.

Many decisions were made taking into account the opinions of Sevastopol.
