Sevastopol Celebrated the Day of the Russian National Flag

On August 22, Sevastopol celebrated the National Flag Day together with the entire country. The celebration included thematic events, lectures and concerts.

For Sevastopol residents, the Russian flag is a symbol of love and pride for the Motherland, the struggle for historical justice, for the right to speak their native language and live in their native country. In the morning, a memorial ceremony of laying flowers took place, and then the national flag measuring 45 by 14 meters was unfurled on the square in front of the diorama building «Storming Sapun Mountain on May 7, 1944». Also on the holiday, more than 30 schoolchildren received passports from the hands of the Hero of Russia. Traditionally, a ceremonial raising of the flag of the Russian Federation took place on the top of Mount Kara-Tau. A thematic program «Banner of Unity» was held in the Fishermen’s Culture Palace, and a quiz «What do you know about the Russian flag?» was held in the information tourist center. On the streets of the city, participants of the governor’s school work teams handed out ribbons with the tricolor.

In honor of the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, an action was held today — ribbons with the Russian flag were distributed.
