Sevastopol Divers defended by amateur fishermen
Krympress reports:
Members of the Association of Underwater Activities of Crimea and Sevastopol (APDKS), reports «Sevastopol newspaper»turned to the governor of the city about the ban on amateur fishing at Cape Aiya.
Employees of the supervisory departments held raids, as a result of which were detained and brought to administrative responsibility of amateur fishermen who were caught by spinning rods by Stavrid, Piksh and perch in the water area of the landscape reserve of republican significance “Cape Ayya”. Caught fishermen face criminal cases.
According to Davers, in Sevastopol, where every second one is fishing since childhood, such actions cause misunderstanding and sincere indignation. In addition, according to their observations, industrial fishing is regularly and uncontrollably conducted in the water area of the reserve.
Activists are asking the city authorities to amend the reserve protection regime, in terms of regulating amateur fishing and using the water area by small vessels. In their opinion, the existing regime of restrictions and protection does not correspond to the status of the reserve and more resembles the regime of the reserve, where a strict rather than partial security regime is conducted.
We believe that restrictions on amateur fishing, fines and criminal cases for bathing, for finding small boats, which are anchored in the water area of the reserve, causes great damage to the tourist attractiveness of Sevastopol and Balaklava, causes stress in society— says in the statement.
Further, it is proposed to reconsider the reserve regime by allowing amateur fishing with strict control of compliance with the current amateur fishing rules, as well as determine the parking zones of small vessels throughout the water area of the Cape Ayya reserve. The example provides reserves of Lake Baikal, the Far East, the Kola Peninsula and Karelia, where amateur fishing is allowed.
Cape Ayia is a popular heritage, a monument of nature, access to which should be open to everyone. Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin repeatedly indicated that the natural wealth of Russia should be available to citizens— emphasize social activists.
They caught five fishermen
Earlier it was reported that in February 2025, the environmental prosecutor’s office, together with the employees of the State Budgetary Institution “Directorate of SPCs and Forestry of Sevastopol”, conducted an examination of the state natural landscape reserve of regional significance “Cape Aiya”.
During the audit in the water area of the reserve, a small vessel was revealed near the shore. Five men were carried out on board the fishing, which contradicts the regime of a specially protected natural area and is illegal. In total, 160 copies of fish “perch Black Sea”, “Stavrid” and “Merlang” were found on the ship.,-said the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Sevastopol.
Based on the materials of the audit, the inquiry department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Balaklava district opened a criminal case for the illegal catch of aquatic biological resources in specially protected natural territories.
