Sevastopol forensic experts have a new leader — Vladimir Biryukov

As of August 5, Vladimir Biryukov has been appointed acting chief physician of the Sevastopol City Bureau of Forensic Medicine, the press service of the Department of Health reported.

V. Biryukov is a finalist of the Young Healthcare Organizer competition. After winning this flagship project of the Ministry of Health, he was awarded a Letter of Gratitude from the Ministry of Labor of Russia and, following the results of the All-Russian competition Best HR Practices and Initiatives in the System of State and Municipal Administration in 2021, he was included in the personnel reserve of the city health department.

In 2013, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Kirov State Medical Academy, specializing in «General Medicine». There he also completed an internship at the Department of Forensic Medicine in the direction of «Forensic Medical Examination». He has the highest qualification category in his specialty. From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a forensic medical expert in the department of the Kirov Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination. Since the end of 2016, he has been working at the Sevastopol Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination.

In early August, the press service of the Sevastopol Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that officials of the forensic medical examination bureau were suspected of committing corruption crimes. Criminal cases were opened against the head of the Sevastopol city forensic medical examination bureau and the head of one of the departments of the institution. They are accused of accepting bribes on an especially large scale. The orderly of this state institution is suspected of giving a bribe to the management on an especially large scale. In essence, forensic experts extorted money from relatives of the deceased for the timely release of bodies after autopsy under the pretext of providing paid services for posthumous makeup.
