In Sevastopol, the first exam was held today as part of the mandatory certification of guides and guide-interpreters. Specialists can be certified to work both in Sevastopol and in the Crimea. Examinations are conducted by the Department of Tourism. According to the head of the department, Larisa Ostapenko, the mandatory certification of tour guides and guide-interpreters is an important innovation this year, which will improve the quality of service and streamline the tourism market in the country.
Starting from September 1, documents were collected from representatives of the excursion business of Sevastopol. Those candidates who have provided a full package of documents confirming their experience, education, are admitted to today’s exam. I urge all those involved in the excursion business to undergo mandatory certification, thereby confirming their qualifications and guaranteeing the quality of their services , the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Larisa Ostapenko.
The guides took the exam in two stages: the theoretical one included test questions, and in the practical one it was necessary to present a part of the tour in one of the proposed locations of Sevastopol or Crimea, depending on the subject where the guide wants to conduct his activities. Most of the candidates took the exam in person, some online.
The work of guides and tour guides was evaluated by members of the regional attestation commission, which included representatives of government and business from Sevastopol and Crimea.
We have been preparing for today’s exam for a long time, because this is the first regional practice. So, together with representatives of professional communities in the field of tourism and organizations engaged in tourism activities in Sevastopol, they worked on exam questions, chose a worthy site for the exam. In addition, in September I held a working meeting with guides and guide-interpreters of the city, at which detailed explanations were given on the procedure for passing certification in Sevastopol , — said the head of the tourism department of Sevastopol.
In total, it is planned to certify more than 50 specialists in the city.

Recall that in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 07. 20.2022 No. 833 “On the Approval of the Regulations on the Certification of Tour Guides (Guides), Guide-Translators”, which came into force on September 1 of the current year, the relevant specialists must undergo certification once every five years.
