The all-Russian project “Green Map of Russia” is aimed at improving the ecology of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and popularizing their territories for the development of domestic ecotourism. An environmental expedition was conducted in Sevastopol as part of the project.
In total, two events are being carried out as part of the project: the first is an ecological expedition, the second is the filming of a popular science video that demonstrates the beauty and heritage of the region. The mission of the project is to formulate a positive environmental agenda by broadcasting the environmental achievements of the regions and their measures to preserve the environment. Moreover, the project is aimed at illuminating attractive areas of the regions both for recreation and for permanent residence. The project started in 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation.
Now we have carried out an ecological expedition; we also took samples of water bodies, including on the Chernaya, Belbek, and Kacha rivers, and examined the Chernorechenskoye reservoir. Samples were also taken at agricultural enterprises, soil samples were taken, and at one enterprise that is associated with wine production, we took wine samples. According to preliminary test results, everything in Sevastopol is good in terms of ecology. No maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants were found in water bodies. The project manager added that in addition to the results of laboratory research, the report will also reflect the main environmental achievements of Sevastopol.
It is worth noting that regional authorities are taking active measures to preserve the environment. We witnessed a unique service, which, as I understand it, exists only in Sevastopol. This service is associated with conducting raids when violators are brought to justice who illegally transport and deal with construction materials, dumping waste of the third and fourth hazard classes illegally on any territory. We saw how the services of the municipal services department work in this regard. They also noted that two reclamation facilities have already been practically completed: one is at the completion stage, two more facilities are planned for reclamation, that is, Sevastopol is doing everything possible in matters of waste managementsays Kristina Arikeeva.
