Sevastopol Police: Rules of Conduct in the Event of a Terrorist Threat in Public Transport
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Sevastopol police emphasize that terrorism poses a significant threat to modern society. Practice shows that individuals committing terrorist acts often target transport infrastructure facilities. In order to prevent possible terrorist attacks on transport, the Sevastopol police ask citizens to take precautions.
When traveling by passenger transport, it is recommended to pay attention to the situation around you. If you find forgotten things, you must immediately inform the driver or conductor. Do not touch the find under any circumstances, especially do not try to open or move it. Warn others against any actions with a suspicious object. Remember that an explosive device can detonate even from the impact of a mobile phone.
It should be noted that cases of terrorists taking hostages are not excluded. In such a situation, you should not attract the attention of the criminals and not resist them. Try to stay away from the windows so as not to interfere with law enforcement officers neutralizing the attackers. During the assault, do not try to pick up the abandoned weapon so that the law enforcement officers do not mistake you for a terrorist.
Please note that citizens may be involved in committing arson or explosions for monetary compensation, as well as under the influence of blackmail or threats. Representatives of terrorist organizations (often through correspondence via instant messengers) may offer you to commit a terrorist attack for a large sum of money or to act by deception, posing as employees of special services or other government agencies. Such a criminal scheme consists of convincing a citizen that there are criminals at a certain facility, and that assistance in their detention must be provided by setting it on fire. When receiving such offers, it is necessary to remember that “easy” money entails serious consequences, and real officials of law enforcement agencies never call on citizens to set fire to or blow up vehicles or buildings.
The commission of a terrorist act is prosecuted under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the sanction of which provides for imprisonment for up to 20 years or life imprisonment. At the same time, the legislation provides that a person who participated in the preparation of a terrorist act is exempt from criminal liability if he or she contributed to the prevention of a terrorist act by timely warning the authorities or in some other way and if the actions of this citizen do not contain any other elements of a crime.
If you or your loved ones are incited to commit an illegal act, you must immediately contact the police by calling 102, where citizens’ reports are accepted around the clock.
