Sevastopol police showed how a routine raid to identify illegal migrants takes place

The Sevastopol police continue to identify violations in the field of migration legislation during raids. This week, an inspection was carried out at two places of compact residence of migrants engaged in labor activities at city construction sites.

The preventive raid, which took place on the territory of the Balaklava district, was attended by employees of the Center for Combating Extremism, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Office for Control of Illegal Drug Trafficking, the Directorate for Migration Issues, the Canine Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol, the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in Balaklava district in cooperation with colleagues from the Russian FSB Directorate for the Black Sea Fleet with the force support of the OMON «Berkut-S» of the Russian Guard,” said the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the inspection, it was established that more than 150 people live in the residential premises of the two hostels, mainly citizens of the Central Asian republics who arrived in the Russian Federation for the purpose of employment.

Police officers checked the builders’ documents giving them the right to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation and carry out work activities, and also checked them against the information databases of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. In addition, police dog handlers, using a service dog, examined all hotel premises for the presence of items prohibited for civilian circulation in Russia.

During the event, police identified six foreigners who violated the regime of stay in the Russian Federation. They were brought to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 18.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Violation by a foreign citizen or stateless person of the rules of entry into the Russian Federation or the regime of stay (residence) in the Russian Federation— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
