Sevastopol police warn citizens about a new scheme for theft of funds by remote scammers
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Internal affairs bodies began to periodically register the theft of funds from citizens who had previously lost a mobile phone with a SIM card linked to a bank account. When the device was in the hands of criminals, they freely stole the owner’s money. In order to counter this type of crime, the Sevastopol police remind you of the need to adhere to precautionary measures.
If you discover that your cell phone is missing, you must immediately block the SIM card. Blocking can be done by calling the support service of a mobile operator, the telephone number of which is usually indicated on its website, or by contacting a cellular service salon.
To protect your smartphone from hacking as much as possible, set a complex password on it. We also recommend installing a service to remotely block your gadget in case it is stolen. Note that using the smartphone search function by geolocation can help find a stolen device and bring the criminal to justice.
If you have suffered from a crime, you should immediately contact the nearest territorial internal affairs agency or call 102.
