Sevastopol police warn: scammers disguise themselves as bank employees
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The police of Sevastopol states: both young people and elderly residents of the city become victims of crimes committed remotely. Another victim of scammers was a 53-year-old city dweller. A stranger called him on one of the messengers, introduced himself as an employee of a regional commercial bank and offered to install an allegedly new anti-virus program on his smartphone to protect his bank account from unauthorized access. In fact, it turned out to be a program for remote access to mobile devices. After the victim followed the dictated instructions, the scammers gained access to his Internet banking and stole thousands of rubles from the bank account 200.
In connection with the ongoing cases of remote fraud, the police of Sevastopol reminds you: if unknown people call you and report any problems with your bank account, immediately stop the phone conversation — these are remote scammers. In no case do not install applications recommended by strangers on your smartphones — in this way you will give them access to a bank account and lose all your money savings. Bank employees never tell their customers about possible problems with a bank account over the phone and do not offer to install any applications on mobile devices , — notes the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
Dear citizens, be careful and prudent, don’t let remote scammers steal your savings!
