Sevastopol police warns: scammers are submitted by public services employees and kidnap money
Krympress reports:
Sevastopol police warns: Remote swindlers call messengers (WhatsApp (belongs to META, which is recognized in Russia with an extremist organization, and whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation)Telegram, Viber and others), are represented by employees of various state institutions, including the public services portal, and request personal data.
How does this work?
Unknown reports that they are trying to kidnap money from your bank account or hack an account at the public services portal. They allegedly calm you and offer help, give detailed instructions. During communication, attackers ask passport data, personal information, and also ask to name the code that came in the SMS message, with which they will gain access to your account. Sometimes, in addition to personal information, they offer to transfer money to a “safe” account so that they are not kidnapped.
It is important to know:
Employees of state institutions do not ask personal data in a telephone conversation and do not require your savings to a backup/safe account.
The codes that come in SMS messages marked “do not report the code”, the employees of the public services portal do not ask. No one can transfer it to anyone.
Upon receipt of such a call, immediately stop the conversation.
Remember: Your vigilance is the best protection against deception. Do not believe in dubious calls and messages, even if they seem convincing. Share this information with loved ones, especially with older people who most often become victims of such schemes.
