Sevastopol Prosecutor's Office stood up for dolphins in a local dolphinarium

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office checked the implementation of the legislation in the field of animal management, including those listed in the Red Book of Russia, in the dolphinarium on ul. Parkovaya. Specialists of the Azov-Black Sea Interregional Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor and the Southern Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor were involved in the audit.

It was established that the dolphinarium contains three dolphins — Black Sea Afalins, one Northern Sea cat. In December 2024, the owner brought them from the Krasnodar Territory to Sevastopol in the absence of permits.

At the time of verification in the dolphinarium, violations of the requirements for the use of animals for cultural and entertainment purposes and their maintenance were allowed. There were no veterinary accompanying documents for products intended for their feeding, the proper storage of biological waste and feed was not provided. The temperature regime of the pool was not observed, the aviary for the stalls was smaller than the minimum size.

The environmental prosecutor’s office aroused cases of administrative offenses in relation to the owner of the dolphinarium:

— Art. 8.53 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (non-compliance with the requirements for the use of animals for cultural and entertainment purposes and their content);

— Part 1 of Art. 10.6 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of quarantine of animals or other veterinary and sanitary rules);

— Part 3 of Art. 10.8 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (violation of veterinary and sanitary rules for the collection, disposal and destruction of biological waste).

The guilty person is fined 13 thousand rubles.

In relation to the owner of the animals, the case of an administrative offense under Art. 8.35 Administrative Code of the Russian Federation (causing harm to rare and threatened disappearance of animal species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation). The materials are under consideration by the Southern Interregional Directorate of Rosprirodnadzor.

In addition, the environmental prosecutor introduced the dolphinarium to the owner of the dolphinarium, the idea of ​​eliminating violations of the law, which is considered and satisfied.

Currently, violations in the maintenance and use of marine mammals are eliminated. After the intervention of the prosecutor’s office, the activities of the dolphinarium are in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation.
