Sevastopol rescuers conduct training sessions in mountainous areas
CrimeaPRESS reports:
From September 18 to 22, the Sevastopol Rescue Service conducts training sessions on rescue in mountainous areas.
During these five days we practice many elements necessary for a rescuer to work in mountainous and wooded areas. At the moment, we are learning to navigate the terrain using a GIS system, which allows us to narrow the search area and determine the location of a person without resorting to online navigators. We also teach the rules of correct transmission of information via radio.— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the search and rescue unit «South» Viktor Tarasov.
A total of 35 people are participating in the training camp. Today they practiced terrain orientation, receiving and transmitting information via radio, working as rescuers in small groups, and transporting a victim along the slopes.
We cannot always use GPS navigators — the location is not always shown correctly. That’s why we’re going back to basics and working on navigation using maps and a compass.,” notes the deputy head of the search and rescue team for search and rescue work, Andrei Ivashkov.
Let us remind you that the Sevastopol Rescue Service works around the clock. In case of unforeseen situations, please call: 112, 54-33-97, +7 (978) 062-46-11, +7 (978) 377-74-21.
