Sevastopol resident drove for several years with a fake driver's license

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol issued a guilty verdict against a local resident on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Using a knowingly fake identity”.

Last winter, a car driven by a man was stopped by traffic police inspectors. When asked to show documents, he handed over to the traffic police officers a fake driver’s license, which he acquired back in 2015. When checking the document, the vigilant inspector drew attention to the fact that the number of the driver’s license was issued in Moscow, and to the brighter gamut of colors of the driver’s license, even examined the document with the help of a microscope he had with him. A check on the database did show that the certificate belongs to a woman. The defendant denied his guilt in the crime, explained that he was trained at a driving school and passed exams, but did not receive a certificate from the traffic police, because in 2014 there were huge queues. An enterprising man decided to seek help in paperwork from a friend. An acquaintance went to Moscow and returned with a driver’s license for his friend. There is nothing wrong with the fact that the signature on the certificate was made not by the defendant, but by another person, the person involved in the case believed, such a document can be signed with any signature. In general, the certificate seized from him was made better than the original. The traffic police inspectors interrogated at the court session also praised the quality of the forgery— said the press service of the court.

Despite disagreeing with the very fact of the criminal prosecution, the defendant gave consistent testimony about the circumstances of the use of a knowingly false certificate and the violation of the procedure for acquiring a driver’s license.

The man and his lawyer did not agree with the sentence imposed by the court (restriction of liberty for 10 months) and have already filed an appeal. By the way, in accordance with the established procedure, the Sevastopol citizen nevertheless received a driver’s license.
