Sevastopol resident sentenced to 13 years in prison for sexual crimes against stepdaughter
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was deemed by the court to be sufficient to convict the 50-year-old resident of the Balaklava District. The court found him guilty in absentia of committing other acts of a sexual nature and raping his underage stepdaughter (Article 132, Article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases established that from February 2011 to December 2013, in the absence of his wife, the man repeatedly committed sexual crimes against a child who was 12 years old at the time of the first act. For a long time, the girl was intimidated by her stepfather, was in a helpless state and could not resist. In 2014, the girl shared information with her friends, after which their parents contacted law enforcement agencies. Upon learning of this, the perpetrator immediately left for the territory of a foreign state and was put on the international wanted list— the department’s press service noted.
During the investigation of the crime of previous years, the investigator for especially important cases and forensic investigators, in cooperation with colleagues from the police, established all the circumstances, conducted examinations and collected a solid evidence base.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him in absentia to 13 years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony.
